I’ve been going back on my dash seeing all these posts and just raaaaging to my friend for hours lol I’m dumbfounded that more people weren’t defending him, I mean what the hell

if I knew how to make a read more I would have but I can’t, so

I wish all these people bitching and attacking Josh would shut the fuck up for a minute and actually watch the video and give context to the situation instead of jumping to the worst conclusion just from seeing a fucking gif. If nothing else it would prove how well intentioned he is and how his heart is 100% in the right place.

I mean, he was accepting a damn GLAAD award. Your first clue that he’s not some horrible being worthy of your hatred. He was getting pretty choked up talking about his uncles who passed away and stammered a bit throughout the speech. What I gathered from it wasn’t some stupid shit about him hating the words gay and lesbian or thinking that those labels are in and of themselves the problem. How I understood it was that he’s sick of gay and lesbian being perceived as bad labels and he hates that those labels are even an issue to people still. Like he’s sick of the queer community not being equal and gays and lesbians being disenfranchised and seperate. Instead of just being human beings we’re reduced to our sexualities and gender identities and he just wants us to be people, and for everyone to just accept us as such and for our sexualities to be a non-issue (and sing kumbaya around a campfire or something. idk this is getting really cheesy.) What he said directly after about how he’d react if he had a son who turned out to be gay solidifies my belief.

There are plently of people out there that are actually worthy of the hate and vitriol that’s being wrongly pointed at Josh. People who are actively fighting to deny us our rights, beating us to death and calling us faggots, dykes, freaks and sinners. Those are the ones who you should be focusing your energies on, not a genuinely good dude who’s been an ally literally his entire life who maybe phrased something in an unfortunate way. I will never understand why our whole damned community is always so quick to turn around and condemn the people who actually support us and are fighting by our sides if they slip up, or are just perceived to slip up, in the tiniest ways.
